From the UK's first-ever beer spa to a new pottery painting experience, here are five changes happening to Norfolk businesses in June 2024.
1. New fried chicken shop in Dereham
The ChicKing House opened its doors in a former hardware store in Dereham's Market Place on Saturday.
It is a fun and quirky space with graffiti on the walls, Pac-Man and Street Fighter game machines and booth dining spaces for 43 people.
Its menu offers a selection of fresh chicken on and off the bone, with burgers and wraps, chicken wings and tenders alongside twice-cooked fries and a range of desserts.
2. New QD store in Fakenham
Fakenham's long-awaited QD store is set to open on Tuesday.
Its launch was initially announced for a week prior but this was postponed due to structural building works running behind schedule.
The shop will be in the former M&Co unit next to Argos in Millers Walk and the opening has created 18 new jobs for the area.
3. Hotel opening UK's first-ever beer spa
The Norfolk Mead Hotel, in Coltishall, is opening its new spa this month - and it will feature a unique beer experience.
A wide range of treatments will be available including a hydrotherapy pool, a herbal steam room, a foot spa and an aromatic sauna.
But guests will also have the chance to sit in a wooden hot tub containing vitamin-rich malt and hops from the nearby Woodforde’s Brewery.
The tub comes with a personal beer tap so people can enjoy refreshments while they rest.
The beer experience will cost £68 per person.
4. New coastal cafe opening
A new cafe called Breakfast & Brownies is opening its doors at 28 High Street in Heacham on June 22.
It is owned by friends Sarah Pitt and Susie Ayres and will be the sister business to Simply Cake Co, which Mrs Ayres launched in 2017.
It will serve everything from bacon rolls, pastries and loaded hash browns to rich hot brownies.
5. New pottery painting studio to launch
A new pottery painting studio is opening in Hunstanton on June 1.
Honeypots will be run by owner Charlotte Pratt, who hopes it will be a space for people of all ages and artistic abilities to come together and enjoy being creative.
The space will host pottery painting, lifecasting services, various events, private bookings and conduct creative workshops.
