The search for a missing man has been called off after the discovery of a body.
Brian Horide was last seen between 10.45am and 11.15am on Tuesday, May 21 in the Northgate area of Beccles.
Police discovered the body at about 5.35pm on Friday, in the Beccles marshes.
While the body hasn’t yet been formally identified, the family of Brian Horide have been informed.
Mr Horide's family helped police with the search for the missing 80-year-old.
Mr Horide's son, Mark, lives in Plymouth and made the seven-hour round trip to help his family, who still live in and around the town.
Mark said that he and his mum - who has been married to Mr Horide 61 years this year - and sisters and other friends and family had hired a boat to search the River Waveney themselves.
A long-term friend of Mr Horide, Peter Boardman, 90, said he and his wife Janet met him and his wife Rosemary at a dance more than 60 years ago.
He said: "Brian and I used to go walking and climbing in the mountains while our partners would sunbathe on the beach, they were some of the best years of my life."
The death is being treated as unexplained at this time, but police do not currently believe there are any suspicious circumstances.
A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
