A by-election has been called after a long-serving town and district councillor announced he is stepping down due to ill health.
Gary Bull, North Norfolk District Council member for North Walsham East, will leave his post at the General Election on July 4.
The announcement was made this week, with a by-election to be held on the same day as people go to the polls to vote for a new government.
Gary Bull, a Liberal Democrat party member who served three terms as North Walsham's town mayor, said: "I have taken the difficult decision to stand down at the General Election, following ill health.
"While I’m disappointed to be standing down, I’m very grateful to have had the opportunity to represent residents in North Walsham.
"Representing residents as a councillor has been a fantastic privilege and experience.”
The result of the by-election will do little to change the make-up of the council, which has a strong Liberal Democrat majority.
To be eligible to vote in the upcoming election, you must register by Tuesday 18 June 2024.
