A man doused people in petrol before being assaulted in the centre of Great Yarmouth, police have said.
The man, who is in his 40s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance after he was reported to have been assaulted on Regent Road at around 6am on Monday.
Minutes before, police received reports that the man had forced his way into a home on Middle Market Road and doused those inside with petrol before running away.
The man has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted arson endangering life. He remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Pammen has been remanded to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court today.
A spokeswoman for Norfolk Constabulary said: "Police were called to Middle Market Road in Great Yarmouth at around 5.55am on Monday May 27 to reports a man had forced his way into a property and doused those inside with petrol before running off.
"Moments after this incident officers received another call that a male had been assaulted in Regent Road. The victim of the assault, a man aged in his 40s, was taken by air ambulance to hospital with serious injuries."
Paramedic equipment was left inside a police cordon by Poundstretcher on Morday morning, and forensic teams stayed outside the Middle Market Road property throughout the day.
Officers remain with the man suspected of arson and he will be taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning once discharged from hospital.
Three females and one male who were inside the Middle Market Road property were checked over by ambulance but were not taken to hospital.
Inquiries are continuing.
