A huge free festival is returning to a seaside town this week.

The Out There Festival 2024 is set to take over Great Yarmouth for three days of outdoor arts and circus entertainment from Thursday to Saturday.

Here is all you need to know about one of the largest circus programmes in the UK, with an international reputation that attracts more than 60,000 visitors to Great Yarmouth every year.

Where is it taking place?

The Out There Festival takes place in Great Yarmouth in various locations - from St George’s Park to the seafront. 

Performances take place on numbered pitches which can be seen on an interactive map available via the festival's website.

What is on at the festival?

Celebrating its 16th year running, the event will be filled with more than 40 shows from nine different countries with more than 100 performances.

Party in the Park will be hosted in St George's Park with DJs, dancing, Lacons festival ale, Gonzo's cocktails and street food.

The event will commence on Thursday between 5pm and 11pm and on Friday and Saturday from midday to 11pm.

What performances are happening and when?

There is a huge variety of work spanning circus, street theatre, dance, music, clowning, carnival, games, installations, roller-skating, sword-swallowing, sideshows, parades and workshops.

Acts include musical clown duo Rimski & Handkerchief, acrobatics, street dance and roller skating set on a giant moving treadmill from Gorilla Circus and an Insect Circus with roller skating, bicycle tricks and hijinks. 

Selected shows will have relaxed performances from midday to 2pm each day, with main festival events kicking off at 2pm.

Will there be refreshments available?

Various food stalls of different cuisines are available at Eat Street, a concession zone located next to St George’s Park.

Drop into Mermadelica in the park for ice cream, fresh coffee and grub or grab a bite to eat and a pint at The Drill House.

What facilities are available at the festival site?

Facilities at the site include viewing platforms, wheelchair-accessible ramps, changing places, toilets, quiet spaces, extra seating and covered spaces.
