A weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for Norfolk and parts of north Suffolk. 

The Met Office put the yellow warning in place between 2pm and 7pm today, covering the whole of Norfolk as well as parts of Suffolk including Beccles and Lowestoft. 

According to the forecaster, the thunderstorms may bring torrential downpours causing flooding in some places.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures and there is a small chance that communities could become cut off by flooded roads. 

There is also a slight chance that power cuts and loss of other services could occur. 

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "While some areas will remain dry, thunderstorms are likely to develop this afternoon and evening from the east and move relatively slowly westwards or north-westward.

"Where thunderstorms occur, heavy rain accompanied by frequent lightning is likely with potential for 25mm to 30mm of rain to fall in one or two hours in a few places and perhaps as much as 50mm could fall in one or two spots.

"In a few places, there may also be some hail."

It comes after a wet bank holiday weekend which saw events cancelled across the county and flood alerts issued.

During storms on Sunday, fire crews were called to Church Street in Attleborough after a property was struck by lightning.
