Six plead guilty to trouble after Norwich v Birmingham game

Officers were called to Thorpe Road, near Gem restaurant opposite the railway station, at about 6pm after Norwich City's match with Birmingham City on September 30, which the Canaries won 2-0.

A group of men were involved in an altercation which left one man with facial injuries.

Footage recorded from a bus full of Birmingham fans showed a group getting off and fighting outside the restaurant as others tried to get inside. 

Police have now announced six men from the Birmingham area are to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court next month after pleading guilty on May 10.

A police spokeswoman said: "Mark Parton, 63, of Northumberland Way, Walsall; Craig Taylor, 32, of Formans, Sparkhill, Birmingham; William Jordan, 41, of Old Meadow, Birmingham; Andrew Parkes, 20, of Morley Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield; and Gary Kemp, 58, of Redditch Road, Kings Norton have all pleaded guilty to using threatening/abusive/insulting words and behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence.

"Dean Sheppard, 54, of Quinton Road, Birmingham, has also pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 and using threatening/abusive/insulting words and behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence.

"All of the above are due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on June 26, 2024, for sentencing."

The police spokeswoman also added: "Sonny Antcliffe, of Columb Road, Gorleston pleaded not guilty to using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence after appearing at Norwich Magistrates Court on May 10.

"The case is due to go to Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court on February 27, 2025."
