An initiative to produce 160 new wildflower meadows across the region is under way.

The project by Flagship Group housing association aims to create the sites near its properties, providing habitats for wildlife while giving people more access to nature.

Dan Salliss, from the company, said: “This is one of the biggest projects we’ve ever had.

"It’s about creating habitats for wildflowers, butterflies, bees and other insects, and providing cover for small animals.

"But this is also aimed at improving access to nature for people, which benefits their wellbeing.”

Some of the sites include: Ashfield Rd, in North Walsham; Bell Meadow in Hingham; Burnthouse Lane in Hethersett; and Fairview Road in North Walsham.
