Five beaches in Norfolk have been named among the best in the UK in a new handpicked guide.

The beaches were all included in the top 30 in a list of 54 beaches in the UK released by Condé Nast Traveller.

1. Holkham

Holkham Beach landed an impressive seventh place, with the publication describing it as "wild and free and almost lunar-like" and "wonderfully unspoilt".

The beach has won multiple awards and is part of the Holkham Natural Nature Reserve ensuring that it remains largely untouched and clean.

The publication recommended a stay at Holkham Hall, a 19th-century redbrick just a stone's throw from the seafront.

2. Hunstanton

The publication stated that Hunstanton "parcels up all the best bits of a quintessential British seaside resort" and placed it 13th on the list.

The town boasts a variety of tea shops, a candy-striped helter-skelter, pony rides along the promenade and shallow water perfect for crabbing.

Old Hunstanton is the only west-facing beach on the east coast, so may feel warmer than neighbouring seaside towns.

The publication recommends a stay at the Dabbling Duck's pub, which is 25 minutes inland from the coast.

3. Brancaster

The north Norfolk is well-known for its pier, puppet shows and fun fair and the publication dubs it as the "place to go for a truly British holiday".
