A six-bedroom period home with a fascinating history is up for sale in Old Costessey at a guide price of £1,650,000.
Ringland House dates back to the Georgian era but includes features from the Tudor Costessey Manor.
Commenting on the property, selling agent Fine & Country said: “It’s been extended and updated during the current ownership and although it has grand proportions, it’s also very homely and intimate.”
The house was originally built in 1912 by the Carter family, who were well-known local builders. However, many of the most intriguing parts of the property date back centuries.
The main front door comes from Costessey Hall – with Tudor stained glass either side of the door depicting the York and Lancastrian roses.

This glass, along with some oak panelling and the main stairs, came from the old Costessey Manor, which was supposedly gifted to Anne of Cleves by Henry VIII.
Other stained glass from the hall can be seen in a museum in Roanoke, Virginia.
At the heart of the home is a substantial open-plan kitchen, dining and family room with mezzanine level and bifold doors on each side to a reception hall and large conservatory.
“This is a magnificent part of the home and perfect for a large family or for social occasions,” said Fine & Country.
Adjoining this area is a ground-floor bedroom with en-suite shower room, which is ideal for guests or those with limited mobility.
In the original part of the house there is a characterful dining room and sitting room, both with fireplaces. The sitting room opens into a garden room.
Upstairs there are five additional bedrooms, three with en suites, plus a further bathroom and separate WC.
Outside, the grounds extend to 1.414 acres (subject to survey) and include a tennis court, small orchard and two greenhouses.
A large lawn is complemented by a terrace, rose garden, raised beds and fruit cages.
The property also comes with a private area of woodland including river access and fishing rights.

To the front, a gated entrance leads to a gravel driveway offering ample parking space.
There is also a triple garage with spacious studio/office above, adding to the property’s versatility.
Ringland House is located halfway between the attractive villages of Old Costessey and Ringland.
Famous artist Sir Alfred Munnings regularly visited the area – inspiring his renowned painting ‘Horses on Ringland Hills’.
Various amenities can be found in the neighbouring villages of Drayton and Taverham, including schools, supermarkets, cafés, and pubs.
The market town of Dereham is 11 miles west, and Norwich city centre is just five miles east.
