A pub in a 'beautiful and tranquil' riverside location is up for sale.

The Heron at Stow Bridge, near Downham Market, could be yours for £675,000.

Agents Everard Cole say on Rightmove: "Purchased by our client in 2018, The Heron underwent a complete restoration and refurbishment, making it fit for the modern era.

"Great attention has gone into the detailing, from the Heron wallpaper to the usage of natural materials to include flagstone flooring, an oak bar, and wooden beams in the light and airy new restaurant space."

The pub boasts stone floors, an oak bar and exposed beams, along with more than 100 covers across different seating areas, including a snug, main bar, restaurant and conservatory.

There are also two en-suite letting rooms and two-bed private accommodation with its own kitchen and a roof garden.

Outside seating areas include a decked area overlooking the reed-lined Relief Channel, with another 80 covers.

Beside the banks, there are pontoons with 12 moorings for visiting pleasure craft, along with a field used by visiting caravans with six electrical hook-up points and parking for 30 customers' cars.

The pub nestles between the tidal Great Ouse and the man-made Relief Channel, dug in the 1950s, which carries excess water from the nearby Denver Sluice to King's Lynn.

It is believed to have originally been a farmhouse before its first landlord Albert Gyp was granted a license, again in the 1950s.

The Heron has another claim to fame, to boot. It briefly hosted the return of welly wanging to the Fens, after then chef and joint owner Scott Luckey organised a Boxing Day bout in 2002.
