A town centre bank is set to be closed temporarily for a month for refurbishments.

The HSBC UK branch on London Road North in Lowestoft is "closing temporarily while it undergoes a refresh".

This will include "internal building work," meaning the branch will close at 2pm this Friday, May 3.

It is expected to reopen once more at 9.30am on Thursday, June 6.

George Hemstock, HSBC UK’s local director, said: "We continue to invest in our branch network to make our customers’ experience banking with us a good one.

"We are pleased that our Lowestoft branch is getting a refresh, with some painting, new signage and the installation of new state-of-the-art cash machines, which we are excited about.

"We have been talking to customers about the temporary closure for the last month, and while we are having the work done people can continue to use their nearest Post Office for day to day transactions, plus mobile and online banking is available 24/7 in addition to being able to call our contact centre.

"We will also be hosting community pop up events at Lowestoft Library on Clapham Road South in Lowestoft, where we will be on hand to support customers.

"We will be there Tuesdays and Thursdays from May 7 until May 30, from 10am to 3pm."

Customers are also being advised that they can continue to use any of the HSBC UK branches "with Great Yarmouth being the closest branch, and Saxmundham being the closest branch with a counter service," according to Mr Hemstock.
