A key junction in Wymondham has been closed for the installation of a new sewer pipe.
Anglian Water has shut down a section of Station Road where it connects to Valley Side, Allenbrooks Way, The Lizard and Station Approach while the project is carried out.
This is for the maintenance and repair of the pipes in the area, expected to be completed by Friday.
The road serves as an important thoroughfare in and out of the town, connecting it with Long Stratton and Diss to the south, and delays are likely during the work.
While the scheme is under way, a nearly 10-mile diversion will direct traffic through nearby Silfield, Ashwellthorpe, Wreningham and Hethel.
The junction is also closed to pedestrians during the work.
