A teenager found with a 21 inch machete after an altercation in Norwich’s nightclub district has been warned she faces jail.
Shyla Steward, 18, was told all options were open including immediate imprisonment when she is due to be sentenced at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on July 10.
Police discovered the weapon after she had been arrested in the early hours of March 3 on Prince of Wales Road following a dispute that saw her slap another woman.
Rima Begum, prosecuting, said: “When she was asked if she had anything on her officers thought she was joking when she said a machete. However they then found a blade that was 52cm (21in long.”

Steward, of Motum Road in Norwich, pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and assault.
The court was told prison was the starting point for a weapon with a blade that size with a range of six months to three years.
Applying for a pre-sentence report due to her age, Michael Cole, mitigating, said: “She was only just 18 when this incident occurred.”
She was granted conditional bail banning her from Prince of Wales Road between 7pm and 7am.
