With spring in full swing, Mediterranean temperatures are on the way to Norfolk with the Met Office forecasting the county to be hotter than the Algarve.

After a spell of colder and wetter weather, strong winds from the south are dragging up warmer weather where the county could reach temperatures above 20C for the first time this year.

Areas in south Norfolk are expected to be the warmest with Norwich and Thetford forecasted to hit 21C on Saturday (April 6) - hotter than the Algarve with Faro forecast at 20C.

But despite the heat it won't feel like summer just yet with sunny intervals being masked by windy and cloudy conditions.

A Met Office spokeswoman said: "This weekend will be unsettled with a warm front bringing some very mild/warm air over south eastern parts of the UK.

"Temperatures could be well above average in the South East but tempered by wind/rain elsewhere."

Although the Mediterranean heat may not last longer than the weekend, the county is forecast for a milder April with temperatures a little above average over the coming weeks.
