A village in north Norfolk has been named one of the poshest places in Britain. 

Burnham Market was ranked in The Telegraph's 48 poshest villages in the country. 

The village is dubbed Chelsea-on-sea because of the large numbers of wealthy Londoners with property in the area as well as celebrities such as Stephen Fry, Amanda Holden and Anneka Rice.

Alongside the village green are boutique stores, antique shops and restaurants such as No Twenty9 and Socius.

Research, which was aided by estate agents Savills, said the average house price in the village is currently £814,188.

Locals say they are being priced out of the area, with young people leaving in search of cheaper options. 

Second homeowners in Burnham Market will face a 100pc surcharge on their council tax from 2025.

The Independent-controlled West Norfolk Council voted to approve the new levy which will come into force next year and is expected to raise an extra £6.5m in funds.

Hemingford Abbots in Cambridgeshire and Walberswick in Suffolk also made The Telegraph list.
