A new disability-friendly toilet has been opened at Whitlingham Country Park.

The Changing Places toilet was unveiled to the public on March 19.

The new facility has a ceiling hoist, height-adjustable changing bench, and a peninsular toilet.

It was funded by £40,000 from South Norfolk Council, £10,000 from The Broad Authority, with the remainder funded by the park.

South Norfolk Council cabinet member Councillor Lisa Overton-Neal, said: “This additional resource means that everyone regardless of their disability and access needs can visit the park and use the facilities safely and comfortably.

“Around 250,000 people in the UK need these facilities to be able to go out and do activities that most people take for granted.

"I am delighted we are able to support this project, which will ensure people with profound and multiple learning disabilities or with physical disabilities can use the toilets hygienically and with dignity.”

The toilet is in the Flint Barn Café car park alongside the existing toilets.

The Changing Places Campaign has been running in the UK since 2005, run by a consortium of not-for-profit organisations.
