Sentence adjourned for man who admitted Norfolk knife attack

Neil Donkin, 42, was initially charged with attempted murder following an incident at Elizabeth Close, Hunstanton, where a man in his 40s received life-threatening injuries.

He is believed to have been stabbed in the throat in the attack, which happened at about 4,45pm on August 22 last year, and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn before being transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

Donkin, of Saddlebow Road, Lynn, denied attempted murder but admitted wounding with intent.

He also pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and was due to be sentenced at court on Wednesday.

It is understood the victim in the case has been "active" since the offence took place last year.

Judge Katharine Moore said: "I can't fairly sentence unless I know how serious it is.

She added: "The most important thing is that the court has all the information it requires."

Judge Moore adjourned the case until April 9 for an update on the severity of the injuries received by the victim.

Offering her apologies for the delay to Donkin, Judge Moore said: "On that date I hope we will be able to fix a sentencing hearing."

Donkin, who appeared in the dock wearing a checked shirt, was remanded in custody.

He was represented at the hearing by Will Carter.
