Plans have been lodged for more than 100 homes to be built in a Norfolk village, increasing it in size by almost 20pc.
Hopkins Homes is hoping to build 112 properties in Scole, near Diss, to meet "high demand" for housing in the area.
The development, to the east of Norwich Road, would include 37 affordable homes, a play area and an extension to the existing sports field near the village hall.
It would see a mix of one, two, three and four bedrooms houses built on the site, as well as bungalows and apartments.

The village already has about 640 homes, so would increase significantly in size under the plans.
Some local people have called the development "excessive" and raised concerns about the strain the increased population would put on schools and nearby GP surgeries.
However, others welcomed the addition of new housing and the significant extension to the playing field, which is said to be an "urgent" need for local sports teams.
South Norfolk Council will decide whether to approve the application in due course.
