Seaside chippies in north Norfolk are often celebrated, but there are plenty of other top-notch takeaways to visit in the county.
These are some of the best fish and chip shops to visit in south Norfolk, in no particular order.
1. Tom's Fish Bar
Where: 4 Queen's Road, Attleborough, NR17 2AG
Tom's Fish Bar offers traditional fare, including cod, plaice and haddock in either small, medium, large or extra large.
There is also a range of pies and even a battered beef burger if you fancy something different, with lunchtime deals for students.
2. Bailey's Fish & Chips
Where: 68 Shelfanger Road, Diss, IP22 4EH
This crowd-pleasing south Norfolk chippy serves fish, sausages, Pukka Pies and chicken, with cheaper children's meals and various deals.
The owner Cengiz Bolat is a real community hero and this includes offering free meals on Christmas Day so that no one eats alone.

3. Fair Green Fish Bar
Where: 37 Denmark Street, Fair Green, Diss, IP22 4BE
Another top Diss takeaway, Fair Green Fish Bar has hundreds of five-star reviews on various platforms.
Fresh Scottish haddock, rock, plaice and Icelandic cod are cooked to order in vegetable oil and other options include pies, sausages, burgers and chicken.
There are also smaller meals available for children and pensioners.
4. Rumbles Fish Bar
Where: Memorial Green, East Harling, NR16 2PP
Fish and chips, kebabs and burgers are served at this popular takeaway in East Harling.
A recent Tripadvisor review praised its "excellent food" and staff who are "always very polite".

5. G. W. Woodbine & Sons
Where: 38 Pople Street, Wymondham, NR18 0PS
G.W. Woodbine & Sons is a hidden gem loved by locals for its great value traditional fare.
Fish starts from £5.50 with a choice of cod, plaice, skate, haddock, rock or lemon sole and there are also pies, chicken and sausages.
6. Kong's Fish & Chips
Where: 42 Lime Tree Avenue, Wymondham, NR18 0HH
Kong's Fish & Chips opened in the former home of The Jolly Frier in September 2023 and the owners are sisters Kong Golke and Yin Yan Kong.
It has proved popular and you can expect classic fare alongside Korean fried chicken and ever-changing specials.

7. The Chip Inn
Where: The Street, Long Stratton, NR15 2XG
Established in 1978, this fish and chip shop has stood the test of time for a reason.
Expect fresh fish and much more fried to order and there are also picnic tables if you fancy an al fresco meal.
