A new speed awareness camera is set to move around a market town to tackle speeding hot spots.
Fakenham Town Council is one of the many local authorities set to benefit from Norfolk County Council after it agreed to make money available for 118 highways schemes, including vehicle-activated speed signs, bus shelters and new footpaths across the county.
Fakenham will get a new SAM2 camera, which is a sign activated by vehicles to flash up a message to slow down.
A spokeswoman for the town council said: “The council has received complaints about speeding in several areas in the town.
"Most recently, people in Rudham Stile Lane have commented on vehicles speeding along their road. Those living on Oak Street and Holt Road have also complained.
“The Parish Partnership scheme offers town and parish councils funding for highways projects, or, in this case, the opportunity to purchase an additional SAMS2 speed sign, which the town council agreed would be useful in those areas.
“This means that the signs can be rotated between sites more frequently and will hopefully deter motorists from speeding.”
