First look at Norfolk episode of Interior Design Masters

Presented by Alan Carr, Interior Design Masters sees a group of amateur interior designers compete over eight weeks to win the chance to create their own line of home furnishings.

Each week, the designers are given challenges to revamp a range of commercial spaces across the country, including activity centres at Chester Zoo, dressing rooms at Wembley and holiday lodges at Blenheim Palace.

During the first episode, the challenge will be to turn a section of the former All Hallows Convent in Ditchingham into a stylish B&B.

Francesca Kletz, one of the designers on the show, said: “I did my MA in Norfolk and love the countryside in that part of the country so was so excited to spend a very sunny week in Norfolk at the convent doing crafts and DIY.

"It definitely felt like a very special first episode challenge and the results of all the rooms are so different and unique that I think it’s going to make really incredible viewing.”

Abigail Ahern and Michelle Ogundehin will judge the first episode (Image: BBC)The Grade II listed building was previously used as a House of Mercy in the 1800s to support ‘fallen women’ and then later as a refuge, hospital, school and nursery.

The convent closed in 2018 after 150 years and was taken over by Norfolk-based homeless charity, Emmaus, with plans to convert the building into a B&B. 

The episode will air next Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One.
