A man in his 30s has been jailed after being found with a shotgun, drugs and cash worth more than £30,000 during a police raid.

Tyler Whisken, 31, of Castle Street, Thetford appeared at Norwich Crown Court last Thursday where he was sentenced to three years in prison after previously pleading guilty to the charges.

He was arrested following the raid on a Castle Street property in November last year.

After forcing entry, police found a significant amount of drugs alongside weapons and other criminal property totalling more than £30,000 in value. 

In Whisken's bedroom, 76.2g of cocaine and nine cannabis resin blocks packaged and ready to be sold were found, with an estimated street value of £3,810 and £4,525, respectively.

Police also found multiple different types of pills and tablets, such as ecstasy, in his wardrobe and a taser on the bedside table.

In the kitchen, a large tub of herbal cannabis was found alongside dealer notes with names and a number believed to be money owed.

A heat-sealing bag machine was also seized, and the bagged cannabis found matched the plastic material used by the machine.

In the living room, more plastic wrapping used for dealing drugs was found along with three bags of cannabis and a jar of cannabis. The cannabis had a total estimated street value of £23,744.

In the basement, police found a double-barrelled shotgun with two shotgun cartridges. The shotgun and ammunition were not locked in a gun cabinet as required by law, and nobody at the property had a valid shotgun certificate.   

A total of £3,340 of cash was seized from his bedroom, kitchen and the wallet in his car.

Following the raid, Whisken was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Station for questioning where he was charged with drugs and firearms offences.

Prior to sentencing, Whisken had pleaded guilty to possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and three counts of supplying Class A drugs, two counts of possession of Class B drugs with intent, possessing a prohibited weapon, criminal property and a shotgun without a certificate.

The raid was carried out as part of Operation Ounce, an investigation into the supply and distribution of drugs into the Thetford and Breckland area.
