Norfolk has become a popular location to film movies and television shows, with the county making appearances in blockbusters such as Spencer and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Ahead of the release of Mary & George next week, we look through some of the miniseries' filming locations, including Hunstanton.
Starring Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore as Mary Villiers, and Nicholas Galitzin, of Cinderella fame, playing her son George Villiers, the series is based on the non-fiction book The King's Assassin.
The story follows Mary and George as they scheme to seduce King James I and propel George into becoming one of the most influential men in 17th-century England.
Old Hunstanton Beach
Princess Diana biopic Spencer on the beach and around Sandringham.
It is not the first time Old Hunstanton Beach has been used to shoot royal scenes as Kristen Stewart filmed theLast June, Game of Thrones actor Joseph Mawle, who will portray Sir Walter Raleigh, was spotted shooting a scene where he walked out of the sea in Hunstanton.
Ashridge Estate
The Ashridge Estate’s woodland grounds in the Chiltern Hills were used as the backdrop for the show’s hunting scenes.
A National Trust property in Hertfordshire, it was once the former home of Henry VIII.
Stirling Castle
One of the most striking castles in Scotland, its exterior was used to portray the city of Edinburgh and inside it was used for a banquet scene.
Knole
Sitting within Kent’s last medieval deer park, the Knole estate is another National Trust property showcased in the series, where it was used for the interior shots of King James’ palace.
Dover Castle
Dover Castle in Kent was used as a stand-in for the Tower of London, the place where kings and queens often sent their enemies to be imprisoned, or worse, killed.
Charterhouse
The Tudor courtyard house, situated in London, was used to portray the exteriors of the London Palace and also doubled as the London Meat Market and the King’s Banquet Hall and kitchen.
The miniseries will be available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW on March 5 .
