The owners of a shop in north Norfolk say they are “thrilled” to be gaining national recognition after being nominated for an award.
The Holt Bookshop has been shortlisted for the independent bookshop of the year category at The British Book Awards 2024.
Owners Pam Horrocks and Keith Britten bought the shop during the first lockdown and moved the premises to Lion House Court in August 2020.

In 2022, the pair opened a second store called Holt Book Gallery and it was designed to resemble something that might be found in Mayfair - only without the high prices.
Ms Horrocks said: “We were thrilled to become a regional finalist in the 2024 Independent Bookshop of the Year Award.
“The fact that this award comes from a panel of our peers gives us a great sense of achievement and pride.

“National recognition for our shop makes all the hard work worthwhile, as well as inspiring confidence in our business throughout the community.”
Other bookshops shortlisted in the region are The Book Hive and Bookbugs and Dragon Tales in Norwich and Kett's Books in Wymondham.
The regional winners will be revealed on March 12 with the national ceremony taking place on May 13.
