Further “technical analysis” is being carried out by Norfolk police following the hit-and-run death of 13-year-old Alfie Brown. 

At an inquest review into the youngster’s death, Norfolk Coroner's Court heard how a full hearing would proceed once the police investigation was complete. 

It comes following the death of the North Walsham High School pupil after he was struck by a car on August 10 last year. 

The teenager had been riding his bicycle at approximately 6.24pm along the B1145 Knapton Road heading toward North Walsham.

Speaking at the court this week, assistant coroner Christopher Leach said: “As he was struck by a motor vehicle heading in the same direction, the vehicle didn’t stop. 

“Paramedics attended but Alfie’s life could not be saved, and he was declared dead at the scene. 

“Further investigations continue on the part of police, and the coroner’s office understands that further technical analysis is being carried out. 

“Until the police investigation is complete it is not appropriate for this inquest to proceed.” 

A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of causing Alfie’s death and has been re-bailed until May 10.
