A 76-year-old woman was left stranded after falling in her flooded home in the Norfolk Broads.

An ambulance, an ambulance officer vehicle, an advanced paramedic car and the Hazardous Area Response Team were called to Potter Heigham at 10.15pm on Tuesday after the woman had a fall and experienced back pain.

Flood water made the remote property inaccessible to ambulance crews leaving the woman stranded.

At 3am, Humber Coastguard called out Hemsby Broads Rescue, along with Bacton and Winterton Coastguard.

Crews worked to make the patient comfortable, moving her on to a boat where she was taken to the ambulance waiting at Phoenix Boats.

The woman was then taken to the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston for further treatment. 

A spokesman for Hemsby Lifeboat said: "Flooding is still an issue around most parts of the Broads in the local area so please be sensible if walking the dog or taking a family stroll when heading out around any of our waterways.

"Stay safe and remember lifejackets are not just for humans, they are for pets too."
