Commuters in East Anglia could be some of the luckiest in the country, according to new research looking at the state of the UK’s trains.
Greater Anglia was crowned the number one train operator for commuters with its extensive onboard services helping to secure the company's top spot on the list by business services firm Moneypenny.
The research took into consideration several factors, including whether the operator offered free Wi-Fi, had plugs available, and if it had assigned quiet zones.
Greater Anglia trains had all these features, thanks to its new £1.4bn fleet of trains which was rolled out in 2019.
The investment was the first time a UK rail operator had introduced an entirely new set of trains.
Moneypenny also took into account the number of positive and negative posts people tagged each operator in on social media, with Greater Anglia scoring second out of 24 on this point.
Great Northern Link was the lowest scoring of all UK operators, closely followed by Thameslink, with neither company offering free Wi-Fi or charging facilities.
