Attleborough man hit 100mph during Norwich police chase

Keiron Forde, 25, of Orchard Close in Attleborough, appeared at Norwich Crown Court after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and failing to stop for police at an earlier hearing.

Police were called to the NDR near Rackheath on Sunday, July 9, 2023, after receiving reports of several cars driving together in an anti-social manner.

At around 10pm, officers' attention was drawn to the black Subaru Impreza being driven by Forde.

He failed to stop for police and fled the scene towards Norwich, reaching speeds of 100mph in a 30mph zone, driving through red lights at 88mph, dangerously overtaking other cars, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving the wrong way through a one-way street.

Officers stopped following the vehicle due to safety concerns but located him a short while later and arrested him at his home in the early hours of Monday, July 10.

He was taken to Wymondham Police Station for questioning before being released on bail.

Forde was charged on November 23 and on Monday he was handed a 12-month suspended sentence, a 12-month driving ban and an extended driving test, an 80-hour unpaid work requirement and a 15-day rehabilitation activity.

Inspector Will Drummond of the Roads and Armed Policing Team said: “It is great to see results like this as we work to remove dangerous drivers from Norfolk’s roads.

“Op Octane, our approach to vehicle-related anti-social behaviour, is proving to be an effective tool which produces impactful results such as this one.

“We will continue to tackle those who choose to put the lives of fellow road users at risk and disrupt their local communities.”

Norfolk Police has not shared which roads Forde used as he sped away but has been asked for clarification.
