Norfolk weather forecast: Snow could hit county in February

In January, the county has seen three storms, numerous weather warnings and freezing temperatures followed by highs of 13C.

The Met Office has now warned of more "impactful weather" in February with the possibility of snow.

Weather forecaster WXCharts predicts that snow could hit the county as early as next week with the potential for up to 5cm on parts of the north Norfolk coast.

But a spokesman for the Met Office claimed that "any snow in the current forecast is confined to high ground in the north of Scotland".

The Met Office long-range forecast has said that there is a chance of snow in the period from  February 8 to February 22.

"Through the middle of February, changeable conditions are most likely," it said. "It is likely to be drier further southeast, although some wet and windy spells are still possible here.

"Later in the month, there is an increasing likelihood of winds from the north or east, which will increase the chance of some colder spells and perhaps snow."

It comes as the forecaster also warned of a further named storm and "impactful weather" as the country moves through meteorological winter and into spring.
