One of Norfolk's historic market towns recently named one of Britain's best could get £550,000 in funding for a major regeneration project that will boost the high street.
Swaffham is set to benefit from the money, which officials hope will allow them to build on the success of Historic England's High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSAZ).
A £300,000 grant from the government body has already been confirmed and a bid has been made for a further £250,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF).
The move comes shortly before the previous four-year project ends in March.
Breckland Council has said the funding would be used for 10 grant projects to cover repairs to historical buildings and to restore traditional shopfronts.

If the bid is successful, the additional NLHF grant will add to this pot of money and could also be used for large community events, which hope to attract 3,000 people.
The three-year project will also seek to improve the look and feel of the historic marketplace with the aim of boosting footfall and supporting local businesses.

Breckland Council has said it can provide an additional £150,000 to support the regeneration, while Swaffham Town Council will put in £50,000 and the Norfolk and Norwich Festival has earmarked £15,000 to go towards community events.
The previous project, which started in 2019, has been hailed as "highly successful" by Breckland Council.
A similar scheme has been proposed for Thetford, which is to benefit from £250,000 in funds to improve the high street.
A public consultation is currently open to decide how this money is spent via the council's website (breckland.gov.uk/article/20407/Thetford).
Breckland members are set to discuss the project at a full council meeting on Thursday.
