A record-breaking 55 community groups, charities and good causes have shared in £21,850 raised at the 2023 Aylsham Show.
Roger Long, retiring president of the Aylsham Agricultural Show Association, invited the organisations to receive grants ranging from £250 to £1,200 at the charity’s annual meeting.
“What a fantastic show we’ve enjoyed,” said Mr Long, who added that one highlight of the annual Bank Holiday Monday show was the grand ring pageant marking the 75th anniversary.
Since 1946, the show has donated more than £1m to local good causes and charities.
This year's awards were made to the following groups.
£1,200: Aylsham and District Flower Club for Vision Norfolk Gardeneyes and Norfolk Blood Bikes.
£1,000: Aylsham Rotary Club; Blood Cancer UK; East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH); North Walsham Rugby Club; Aylsham Football Club (Young Community Sports Trust).
£500: Halsey House, Cromer (dementia unit); Dementia support group Overstrand; Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital’s charity (dementia garden); Aylsham & District Care Trust; Lymphona Action, Norfolk; North Walsham Young Farmers’ Club (Priscilla Bacon Hospice); Norwich & District Riding for the Disabled; YANA (You Are Not alone) mental health awareness.
£350: 3rd Aylsham Guides; Aylsham Recreation Ground; Aylsham High School’s Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme; Aylsham Table Tennis Club; Aylsham Tennis Club; Aylsham Youth Club; British Heart Foundation; Eves Hill Veg Co; Headway Norfolk & Waveney; Norfolk Hearts Trust; Papillon Project; Reepham & District Rotary (Fields of Joy); North Norfolk Food for Sainsbury’s North Walsham fundraising group; Thornage Hall Independent Living.
