An inquest has opened into the death of a woman whose body was found on Hunstanton beach.
Glenys Shelton, 69, was discovered close to the town's Sea Life Centre on the morning of October 20,
On Thursday, an inquest into her death was opened at Norfolk Coroner's Court.
During a short hearing, senior coroner Jacqueline Lake confirmed that Ms Shelton was a retired retail entrepreneur who lived in the town.
The court also heard she was born in Coalville in Leicester but lived in Austin Street in Hunstanton.
Pathologist Laszlo Igali told the court that her medical cause of death was drowning.
Following the discovery of her body, at around 11.45pm, police were called to Seagate Road, close to the popular marine attraction, where a cordon was put in place.
The cordon was lifted the following morning, with Norfolk Constabulary later confirming that it was not treating the circumstances as suspicious.
Mrs Lake adjourned the hearing for a full inquest, which is due to take place on April 19.
