A major redevelopment has been proposed for a former restaurant and marina in the heart of the Norfolk Broads as part of a £2m investment programme.
In plans submitted to the Broads Authority by Richardson's Leisure, the disused Pedro's restaurant at Acle New Road on the River Bure would be transformed with a new visitors centre, cafe, car parking and additional moorings.
A design document states that the premises are currently vacant following Pedro's closure early last year and the site would be developed to "focus on marina use" for day boats, private and visitor moorings.

"We will be maintaining the same level of car parking on site for staff and visitors which will provide around 90 overall."

According to the plans, there would be 48 private moorings, 12 dayboat moorings and 12 visitor moorings built in the proposed development.
The visitors centre and cafe would have external seating and a garden, as well as an attached Broads Discovery Hub.
A day boat reception is also proposed so visitors can book boats and hire them for the day from the site. A total of 14 jobs would be created.

It comes as part of a programme of improvements headed by Richardsons Leisure CEO Greg Munford to revamp and redevelop sites in Hemsby, Stalham and Acle so it can "tap the growing market" for Norfolk holidays.
The company has more than £2m ready to invest in these areas for staycation opportunities which they hope will attract tourists and locals alike with upgraded guest experiences.
Mr Munford said: "We're excited about 2024.
"Our plan is to continue to invest in customer offerings and to diversify as much as we can to make sure we're a fantastic choice for people when they're looking at a UK break."
While still in the application phase, early reception to the plans has been positive.
A representative of the Broads Society commented on the application: "We have no objection in principle to the proposals which will generally enhance the site and provide improved mooring and visitor facilities."
