With unique sights, sprawling beaches and fun attractions to discover, there’s something to do no matter the time of year on Norfolk’s coastline.
Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park near Great Yarmouth not only provides a plethora of exciting things for holidaymakers to do by the seaside, it also offers a great base from which to explore everything that the coast has to offer in spring, summer and autumn.
Here are some of Richardson’s' top activities throughout the year to help you figure out the best time to book your next holiday.
Spring sensations
There is a fantastic array of wildlife to see on the coast during spring, from the rare Natterjack toad to the marsh harrier. Winterton Dunes National Nature Reserve, which is right on the doorstep of Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park, is a haven for birdwatchers and has a resident seal colony to admire.
There’s no better time of year than spring to head out walking or cycling. Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park offers Trek mountain bikes for hire, as well as a range of family karts available for on-park adventures.
The Horsey and Hickling cycling routes are both close to Hemsby, allowing you to see plenty of coastal and Broads villages, local wildlife and historical sites. Find out more by clicking here.
There is plenty to do on-park at Richardson’s too. Why not clear away the winter cobwebs with a treatment at the Wellbeing Space or enjoy a sit-down meal in the park’s Quarterdeck Restaurant. From light bites to gourmet burgers, there’s options to suit everyone.
Summer fun
Nothing says summer like a day on the beach and Norfolk has some of the best in the country, whether you choose to visit one of the quieter coastal towns or head to the golden sands of Great Yarmouth.
Take a dip in the sea, enjoy an ice cream and visit the Pleasure Beach before seeing a show in the evening, or watching the summer fireworks spectacular at Hemsby, which is only 10 minutes away from Richardson’s Holiday Park.
Richardson’s Quarterdeck Show Bar hosts fantastic family-friendly entertainment in the evenings and during the day, including cabarets, talent shows, local bands and discos – all included in the price of a holiday! More details can be found here.
If you’re in the mood for exploring, why not take a day boat trip from Richardson’s Day Boats Marina in Wroxham? Or visit one of the many open-air attractions along the coast, including wildlife parks, nature reserves, theme parks, museums and more.
A peaceful autumn
When autumn comes to the coast, there’s still so much to see and do at Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park and further afield.
There are multiple indoor play areas and other activities to take part in, such as colouring, crafts and games for little ones at the Ellie Club. The indoor heated pool hosts a number of water-based Go Active activities, available to book once you arrive on site.
There’s also the Richardson’s Family Entertainment Centre adjacent to the park, with a high ropes experience and, new for 2024, the Coconut Tree Climb and a 10-pin bowling alley.
A selection of lodges with private hot tubs are available to book too, so you can relax in the steamy waters regardless of the temperature outside!
The milder autumn weather also offers a great opportunity to go for a stroll, or a cycle, and discover some hidden gems and must-see places. Spend a morning at the amusements at Hemsby’s Beach Road, enjoy cake and coffee in a quaint local café or get started on some Christmas shopping in the many boutiques and craft shops along the coast.
