A shop in King's Lynn has been closed down after selling vapes to children.

Labas Minimarket has been ordered to close following a hearing at King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court on December 21.

The store was selling illegal vapes, vapes containing THC and illicit tobacco and also selling vapes to children.

Norfolk Constabulary and Norfolk Trading Standards received 33 complaints about the shop over the last few months, 32 due to underage sales, sales of illegal vapes and illicit tobacco.

More than 400 illegal vapes were seized in a raid of the shop in Norfolk Street on November 1 along with 13 packs of illicit cigarettes and an illegal hide.

Further items including alcohol were seized as the premises does not have an alcohol license.

Labas Minimarket has been ordered to close until February 25 after which time the landlord has agreed to work alongside the council to ensure that future activity in the premises is legal.

Cllr Jo Rust, cabinet member for people and communities at the borough council, said: "The anti-social behaviour caused by this shop has had a negative impact on the local community and a nuisance to the public.

"The nature of the illicit products is a significant risk to people’s health and wellbeing.

"The list of completely unacceptable activities includes selling illegal products to children and targeting the most vulnerable in our society.

"I’m pleased that the borough council, working with partners in the police and trading standards, have put a stop to this.

This is the second closure order for a shop selling illegal vapes granted in Norfolk.

The Green Shop in Dereham was the first-ever store in the county to receive a closure order for this reason.

It was ordered to close earlier this month after thousands of illegal products were seized.
