Police have seized almost £1,000 worth of illegal vapes from a shop in Diss.

South Norfolk beat managers worked in partnership with Trading Standards to investigate the unnamed store and retrieve dozens of illicit vapes.

Illegal vapes do not comply with the full list of guidelines outlined by regulatory standards.

Vapes should contain no more than 20mg of nicotine per 2ml of liquid and usually provide users with 600 puffs.

In some countries including the US, vapes can contain up to 5mg of nicotine per millilitre but these cannot be resold within the UK.

A spokesman from South Norfolk Police said: "Beat Managers in South Norfolk worked in partnership with trading standards to seize dozens of illegal vapes from a shop in Diss.

"The vapes amounted to just short of £1,000 worth of illicit material that has now been taken off of the streets.

"We will continue to crack down on illegal vapes and those being sold to children.

Norfolk County Council previously warned the use of vapes in Norfolk had "exploded" in the last year.

It was reported in September that officers had already seized 14,000 illegal vapes in 2023.
