A Norwich venue will transform into the magical land of Oz in the new year.

The Assembly House is set to bring back its Wizard of Oz-themed afternoon tea between January 8 and March 19.

The establishment first introduced the tea in the summer of 2022.

But this time the menu, designed by Mark Mitson and his six-strong pastry team, will feature brand-new treats and twists.

Richard Hughes, The Assembly House's chef director, said: “Every January we try to inject a little bit of joy into the dark weeks after Christmas by bringing back one of our big themes for a second outing with a new twist.

“The Wizard of Oz tea is colourful, fun and full of new flavours.

"We’ve changed all the cake flavours so that even if you’ve been before, the tea will taste different and will transport you to Oz."

The menu features a selection of finger sandwiches, savouries and scones alongside topical treats such as the Somewhere Over The Rainbow Gateau Opera, the I'll Get You My Pretty Cupcake and The Good Witch Shot Glass filled with a sparkling pink trifle.

The teas will run every day in the advertised period except May 10 when the Mother's Day afternoon tea will be held.

Afternoon tea costs £29.50 per adult and under-12s can enjoy a Munchkin tea for £18.
