As mystery surrounds the last known movements of missing Gaynor Lord, our reporter BRUNO BROWN has been retracing her steps.

The married mother-of-three was last spotted on CCTV walking along St Augustines Street in Norwich city centre at 4.01pm on Friday.

Just four hours later her clothes and handbag were found half a mile away at Wensum Park.

But the mystery surrounding Gaynor’s disappearance began at Jarrolds on Exchange Street, where she unexpectedly left work at the department store early at 2.45pm.

CCTV then shows her hurrying along Bedford Street, past The Wildman pub and running past the Cosy Club at 2.47pm.

Gaynor then walks towards the cathedral via Queen Street at 2.48pm, walking across a busy road dodging moving cars.

There is then a 34-minute gap where Gaynor is not seen - and the walk to the cathedral gates took our reporter just seven minutes.

CATHEDRAL VISIT

The next sighting of Gaynor is at 3.22pm when she is seen on The Close at the cathedral entrance.

Shortly before exiting through the archway, she puts her coat on, which until this point she has been carrying.

A woman, who did not want to be named, who lives on the cathedral grounds realised she was at home at the time Gaynor was caught on CCTV.

She said: “I certainly didn't notice anything out of character about her behaviour in the video but sadly I didn’t see her pass, we have many people walking around here during the day as it is.

“I really hope the authorities can find her.”

At 3.23pm CCTV captures Gaynor walking away from the cathedral and back towards Queens Street.

She is next spotted 26 minutes later near The Playhouse on St George’s Street at 3.49pm.

MISSING 26 MINUTES

The same journey from the cathedral, via Queens Street to the Playhouse took our reporter just seven minutes.

So questions remain about what she was doing during these 26 minutes.

Fabrizio Fiaschi, shop owner of Amaretto Delicatessen, near The Playhouse, said: “We are dreadfully sorry for her friends and family to endure this pain, especially during the festive period too.

"We don’t know this woman and sadly didn’t see anything, if the police say she walked this way she must have done but we didn't see.

“It is shocking she was last seen just near here but so many people walk past you sadly just cannot notice everything."

At 3.53 CCTV footage shows Gaynor walking along St Crispins Road towards Pitt Street.

LAST SIGHTING

Crossing the ring road, Gaynor was seen walking along St Augustines Street at 4.01pm – the last sighting before she went missing.

Brad Howard is the fourth-generation family barber at Bari's Barbers shop and has been working on the street for 24 years.

Mr Howard said: "It’s a huge shock because it is so local and just down the road on the doorstep.

“It is absolutely heart-breaking at this time of year too.

“I must say I am surprised I don’t recognise her because I know lots of people in the area."

Paul Ward, who was waiting for his wife to finish shopping on St Augustines Street has lived in Norwich since 1987.

He said: “It is unbelievably sad, it is a mystery which you read about in a story and you cannot simply believe what has happened.

“You like to think where you live, especially in a city like, Norwich that you are safe.

"I have never known or heard of a case like this since I have lived here."

WENSUM PARK

Four hours after CCTV spotted Gaynor Lord on St Augustine Street, her clothes were found half a mile away at Wensum Park.

The park has been closed to the public since Friday evening while specialist teams search on land and in the water.
