A plumber who was victim to an assault near a Norfolk pub died of the severe head injuries he suffered in the attack.
Neil McGibbon died on November 15 at the Norfolk and Norfolk University Hospital after he was attacked near the King's Head pub in Loddon.
An inquest into the 58-year-old's death opened in Norwich today.
During the short hearing, senior coroner Jacqueline Lake confirmed Mr McGibbon was born in Glasgow, Scotland, but lived in Chedgrave.
The medical cause of his death was given as severe head injuries.
Following his death, members of his family issued a tribute, describing him as a "beloved son, brother, husband, father and friend".
The family added: "He was a proud Scotsman and Celtic fan who played a hugely influential role in his son's life, who shared his father's love of football and golf."
Six men have been questioned by police in relation to Mr McGibbon's death - five in their 20s and a sixth aged in his 50s.
