A 10th anniversary clean up of a Norfolk beach saw huge amounts of litter collected by a committed group of volunteers.

North Norfolk Beach Cleans has been running since 2013 and bagged up nearly 67kg of litter from Walcott beach.

The team of 13 volunteers picked up crab pots and small debris from the coastline, braving the cold and rain to carry out the litter pick.

Michelle Duddy, 45, of North Norfolk Beach Cleans, said: "The first beach clean up was just me and my daughter, up to 70 volunteers at one point.

“The rubbish collections have gone from 100kg to 200kg per clean, so they are working!”

Ms Duddy, known by friends as 'Shell’, won a Marine Conservation award in 2016 and added that the group averages between 700kg to 2,000kg of litter collected from beaches each year.

The group is planning another beach clean, in Sea Palling, before Christmas.
