A youngster whose horse riding equipment was stolen ahead of a ride in support of a friend with cancer has seen a surge in support for his cause.
Six-year-old Kodie Missin, from Emneth, near Wisbech, had his equipment taken just 24 hours after announcing his 12-mile ride.
Kodie still managed to complete his effort, inspired by his friend Hunter, who had been diagnosed with lymphoma.
After the theft was reported to police, King’s Lynn officers decided to escort Kodie and gave him and Hunter a police-themed Playmobil set each.
Stacie Read said horse riding has long been in their family and that her son had taken to it in April.

Ms Read said: “We had put the details of the ride online on Sunday morning, we went to the yard on Monday morning and had been broken in to.
“Altogether, there was around £3,000 worth of equipment stolen from the yard. Ours alone was worth around £1,500.”
Kodie had raised £600 for Hunter and a Go Fund Me page has also seen £400 raised to replace some of his stolen equipment.

Ms Read added: “I have to say, the last few weeks have made him believe people are good again, he’s had his faith restored in humanity.
“Thank you so much for everyone’s support. His local riding club really did help with a big donation to his fundraiser.”

King's Lynn Police confirmed the thefts are being investigated.
A spokesman said: "It’s never nice when you’re a victim of crime and that’s especially true if you’re a child.
"The local beat managers made sure to meet him halfway and show their support. They had all clubbed together to give him and Hunter some police Playmobil and of course there was a chance for them to try on some kit and have a look around the police car."
