The winners of the EDP Business Awards 2023 have been announced, and Plan B Management Solutions has been named the winner of this year's Large Business of the Year award, sponsored by FRP.

Based in Great Yarmouth, Plan B Management Solutions is an environmental consultancy specialising in grounds maintenance, waste collection and street cleansing. 

It offers managed services for local authorities or private sector clients, material marketing and sales support, and consultancy work supporting clients in the design and delivery of their front-line environmental services.

The company’s material marketing and sales team supports clients with the sale of their waste and recyclable material. It currently manages a portfolio of circa 250,000 tonnes per annum. This includes kerbside collection of household waste such as paper, glass, plastic and metal, and other waste streams including wood, plasterboard, waste electricals, carpets and mattresses.

The judges were impressed with Plan B’s “commitment to doing the right thing” and the “innovative ways” in which it is helping clients save money and reduce their carbon footprint. 

They also praised the directors’ “clear mission and strategy for growth”, and their desire to support the local community.

“We’re delighted to have won this award,” said Craig Cutajar, material sales director at Plan B Management Solutions. “It really is a great achievement, up against some other incredible and inspiring companies. 

“It’s testament to the hard work and focus of the whole team over the last four years.”

Managing director Maz Akhtar added: “We have ambitious plans for continued growth, and we have committed to increase our presence within the Norfolk region as the business grows. This also allows us to create greater opportunities for development and promotion locally, which is part of our culture.”

The other finalists for the Large Business of the Year award were Delta Fire, Mervyn Lambert Plant and Klyne Aviation.
