It began life as discarded and abandoned off-cuts from plumbing jobs gone by.
Now the dull and marked copper piping, donated to a mid-Norfolk Scout group, has been transformed into a thing of beauty.
First donated by previous leader of 2nd Reepham Scout Group, Richard Neate, no one had any idea what was to become of the metal.
But the group’s youngers have gone on to create a lasting memorial for those who gave their lives for their country.
Group scout leader, Neil Sainty, said: “The scout section decided to make a wreath this year for Remembrance Day.
“It seemed wasteful to buy a wreath and dispose of it after the event, so the Scouts decided that making a lasting tribute would be more fitting."
The scout group has also decided to use the opportunity to raise money with a Just Giving page, with funds going to the Royal British Legion directly.
The project was led by Tony Mitchell, an assistant scout leader, and £190 of a £300 target has been raised so far.
The wreath will be on display in Reepham church, then in various shops and venues around the market town until January.
Based at the end of the town’s Smugglers Lane, the group offers around 100 young people from the age of six the chance to experience scouting in the area.
