A woman has been left heartbroken after "vicious thieves" stole her lifeline transportation.

Giedre Giedryte, who is currently navigating health problems, explained that she has been left stranded and unable to get out and about without her beloved tricycle.

Ms Giedryte, who lives in Midland Close, Great Yarmouth, said: "I feel like everything is crushing my shoulders.

"To me, it is just as valuable as a car. Without it, I can't get anywhere."

Ms Giedryte believes the silver unbranded three-wheeler was taken from her back garden on Midland Close sometime between Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

"It's been very hard. I can't believe people would do something like this."

Norfolk Constabulary has been informed and officers are investigating the theft.

Central and Northgate ward councillor Jade Martin said: “Having your bike stolen is an awful situation. But when it’s someone’s only form of transport, it is their lifeline.

"Times are tough for a lot of people, and for people to do this to others is vicious.

"Bike thefts appear to be on the increase, especially this time of year. I would advise people to report any thefts to the police and also seek support to get their bikes marked."

Ms Giedryte bought it online from a local seller at the end of September for £250.

Ms Giedre said this is the first time in almost a decade she can remember a bike theft in the area.

"I thought I lived in a safe area," she said.

"But I don't feel safe anymore."
