A Norfolk man has pleaded not guilty to resisting arrest at a protest in London on Saturday.

Ethan Stapely, 23, from Bradwell near Great Yarmouth, was charged yesterday and was remanded to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court today.

The Met Police arrested 145 people during the Pro-Palestinian demonstration and counter-protest by right-wing groups for offences including assault, possession of weapons, criminal damage, public order, inciting racial hatred and possession of drugs.

Six others were also charged.

Hundreds of thousands of people took part in the pro-Palestinian demonstration in central London and many arrests were made to "prevent a breach of the peace".

Counter-protesters clashed with police throughout the day and the Met Police took to social media to criticise the "aggression" towards officers.

Stapely will next appear at the City of London Magistrates' Court on January 30, 2024.
