Seaside Special - Oscar-nominated Jens Meurer in Yarmouth

Filmmaker Jens Meurer gave an insight into the production of his documentary Seaside Special - A Love Letter to Britain at The Arc cinema in Great Yarmouth on Friday.

After the premiere of the Cromer documentary, Mr Meurer answered audience questions joined by cast members, including entertainment stalwart Olly Day and dancers Sophie and Polly Duniam.

At the question and answer session, Mr Meurer - whose 2009 movie The Last Station was nominated for two awards at the 2010 Oscars - said he had been "blown away" by the film's reception, especially in his native Germany.

"I have spoken to many people from my home country saying they are booking holidays to Cromer after seeing the film," he said.

"Ever since I first went to Cromer with family years ago, I knew there was a story which would resonate with so many people."

Seaside Special is being released across the country, following several advanced screenings last year and earlier this year.

There are two daily showings at The Arc cinema in Great Yarmouth until Thursday.
