A Norfolk man has been charged following protests in London.

Ethan Stapely, 23, from Bradwell, near Great Yarmouth, was arrested after protests in the capital yesterday (November 11).

The Met Police arrested 145 people during the Pro-Palestinian demonstration and counter-protest by right-wing groups for offences including assault, possession of weapons, criminal damage, public order, inciting racial hatred and possession of drugs.

Stapely, 23, was charged with resisting arrest and has been remanded to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 13.

Six others have also been charged.

Hundreds of thousands of people took part in the pro-Palestinian demonstration in central London and many arrests were made to "prevent a breach of the peace."

Counter-protesters clashed with police throughout the day and the Met Police took to social media to criticise the "aggression" towards officers.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, who led Saturday’s policing operation said: “Public order policing doesn’t end when demonstrators go home.

"We have teams of officers who continue to build cases against those in custody and launch investigations into those who come to our attention when images and videos are shared on social media."
