The A47 was closed due to a Mercedes on fire.
One lane was shut eastbound at Trowse and emergency services attended the scene.
There were more than four miles of traffic tailing back to Little Melton and large plumes of smoke on both carriageways.
No one was injured and all lanes are now open.
