Then from December 1 to 23, the lights will still be switched on from 4pm to 5pm Monday to Friday, but with a later end time on Saturdays at 6pm, with the Rosarium Restaurant serving drinks and snacks until 5.30pm.

A spokesperson for Peter Beales Roses said: "We have ensured that all lights used are energy-efficient LEDs and are set on timers.

"These steps allow us to offer the same magical Christmas experience as in previous years, while reducing the amount of energy being used."

It is free to visit the gardens at Peter Beales Roses.
